Hi there! I’m so glad you stopped by. Can we chat for a minute?

My name is Katie, and my life hasn’t turned out at all like I expected.

Maybe you can relate?

I have a Master’s degree in French language and literature, but I’ve spent the last two years working as a barista in a coffee shop where pretty much no one speaks French. Go figure.

Most days, I wear more mocha on my face than I wear makeup.

I drink way too much coffee and don’t eat enough vegetables, I own more hoodies than heels, and I have never had a tan in my life. Not once.

But you know what? In the midst of all of this ordinary, my life is actually pretty glorious.

And yours is, too.

In one of my favorite devotionals of all time, Oswald Chambers wrote that “the only way to live an undefeated life is to live looking to God.”

To put it simply, that’s what this blog is about: living our lives looking to God.

Because that’s the secret to finding the epic in the everyday. That’s the secret to overcoming the drudgery, darkness, and depression that threaten to strangle our faith.

That’s the secret to living an adventurous, glorious life right where you are.

Now don’t get me wrong here: I haven’t exactly mastered the art of the looking-to-God life yet. There are still plenty of days when my life seems less than epic and I wonder how I ended up here or what the purpose is to any of this. There are still days when my gaze reverts to my circumstances and I’m tempted to slip back into defeat.

But now that I know the secret, I’m not content to stay in the darkness for long.

And you won’t be, either.

So how about it, friend? Will you join me on this journey toward the undefeated life? I can promise you that it won’t be perfect, but it will be an adventure.

Let’s go brave it together. Because when we live looking to God, every day can be glorious.

You’ll soon discover that photography is one of my favorite ways to spend time with God and gain a new perspective on things. (To see some of my favorite photographic moments, check out the Glimpses of Glory page.) All pictures on this site are mine unless otherwise indicated, but all credit for “beautiful pictures” goes to God, the true Artist behind anything beautiful you might see in my photos.

Finally, while I love photography, I’m not very good at the whole “selfie” thing, so the pictures of me (here and on the home page) are by the lovely Jerusha Davidson. :)
